The Kenya Institute for Public Policy Research and Analysis (KIPPRA) is a public Institute established in 1997 to support public policy by contributing to the formulation of medium and long-term strategic perspectives for development of the country as well as developing the required human and institutional capacities.

This is achieved by undertaking economic forecasting, policy analysis and research, and through capacity building for the achievement of national development goals. 
It is governed by the KIPPRA Act No. 15 of 2006.

The Institute is seeking qualified candidates to fill the following position:
Assistant Communications Officer

Ref. ACO/2014
Grade: KIP 6

Department: Knowledge Management and Communications
Supervisor: Knowledge Management and Communications Manager
Supervisory Responsibilities: Communication interns
Position Summary: The incumbent will be expected to assist in all KIPPRA internal and external communications in liaison with other Knowledge Management and Communications staff

Key Responsibilities

  • Support in developing and implementing KIPPRA communication strategy
  • Support in the development of communication messages to ensure visibility of the Institute, including drafting press releases, responding to media queries and public relations
  • Assist in Managing all KIPPRA internal and external communications, which includes design and development of all the communications
  • Participate in developing, implementing and maintaining a strong KIPPRA image and brand
  • Regular updating and monitoring the KIPPRA website
  • Assist in design, development and production of the KIPPRA Policy Monitor (internal newsletter), which includes leading editorial and planning meetings, sourcing articles and images, sub-editing and proof reading articles
  • Planning and coordination of all KIPPRA external events
Qualifications & Attributes
  • Bachelors Degree in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism or a related discipline
  • At least One (1) years experience in communications, media liaison and or public relations
  • Excellent presentation, written and oral communication skills
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively with stakeholders from various institutions
  • Ability to analyze technical information from different research outputs and to synthesize this information into coherent briefs and communication documents
  • Flexibility, creativity and effectiveness in working collaboratively with all stakeholders under tight deadlines
Terms and Application Procedure
KIPPRA offers competitive terms and conditions of employment. 
Successful candidates will be employed on a 3-year contract, renewable on the basis of performance.
